About
TAP Academy was developed to provide the same foundational understanding of Tennessee-specific aviation and airport-related topics to all of the State’s aviation professionals. The course is intended for aviation professionals of all experience levels and is a forum for Tennessee’s aviation community to learn together and from each other. TAP Academy was developed in close coordination with a project Stakeholder Group, comprised of airport and aviation professionals from a variety of airports and aviation groups. The Stakeholder Group provided insight on the course Mission, Learning Objectives, content, and agenda. TAP Academy ultimately aims to provide attendees with a high level, but fundamental understanding of how to run an airport.
The mission of TAP Academy is:
TAP Academy provides the airport workforce with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage all aspects of airport operations. By positively influencing partnership and communication, we aim to promote a productive relationship between TDOT Aeronautics Division and the airport community. We aim to create a culture of continuous communication, improvement, and support, ensuring compliant, safe, efficient, and sustainable airport operations across the State.
TAP Academy content is driven by five Learning Objectives, in turn informed by this mission statement, which each correspond to a Module. These Learning Objectives were developed by the TDOT Aeronautics Division with input and direction provided by our project Stakeholder Group. The Learning Objectives include:
- Join us for a day in the life of a Tennessee airport manager.
- Acquire skills in project management specific to aviation.
- Run your airport like a business.
- Airport safety is the ultimate goal.
- Back to basics; understanding State and federal laws and regulations and airport planning and environmental programs and policies.
